Sona Sahakian

Sona Sahakian is an interdisciplinair visual artist , born in 1996 in the Netherlands. She graduated from the Department of Visual Arts at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Her works include paintings , drawings , collages , photographs , poetry , performances , installations , and films (video art). In recent years and up to the present , she has held solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions and projects , both within the country and internationally.

Her artworks focus on the search for an inner experience of time , the dialogue between people and nature , and the encounter with your real self , where memories are made experienceable in the shape of fixation and transformation. The transience , the cycle of human existence - life , death and rebirth - plays an important role in this; this transforms our reality and strengthens our human consciousness. In her creations , she incorporates multiple disciplines , which she amalgamates and blends into a singular image , termed mixed media , or as she herself describes it , "Mixing Palette." She considers this an ongoing process where diverse images are constantly reshaped into new forms and contexts , reappearing in various manifestations. In her art she wants to stimulate people's imagination and sensory experiences in which the traces of the past are revived in the present , which remains anchored in her memory and
thus enriches her personal history. In this way she hopes that people can make an inner journey by really feeling and discovering for themselves what the treasure chest of their existence is.

Sona Sahakian is een beeldend kunstenaar , geboren in 1996 in Nederland. Zij is afgestudeerd aan de afdeling Beeldende Kunst aan de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten , Den Haag. Haar werken bestaan uit schilderijen , tekeningen , collages , foto’s , installaties , poëzie , performances en films (videokunst).In de afgelopen jaren en tot op heden heeft zij solo-exposities gehouden en deelgenomen aan diverse groepstentoonstellingen en projecten , zowel in binnen- als buitenland.

Haar kunst gaat over de zoektocht naar innerlijke tijdsbeleving , de interactie tussen mens en natuur , en de ontmoeting met het ware zelf , waarbij herinneringen als fixatie en transformatie voelbaar worden gemaakt. De vergankelijkheid en de cyclus
van het menselijk bestaan; leven , dood en wedergeboorte spelen hierbij een belangrijke rol die onze werkelijkheid transformeert en ons menselijk bewustzijn versterkt. In haar creaties maakt zij gebruik van verschillende kunstdisciplines , zoals die zij in één afbeelding samenbrengt en laat versmelten , oftewel mixed media, of zoals zij het zelf noemt "Mixing Palette." Zij ziet dit als een eindeloos proces waarin verschillende beelden in een andere vorm en context steeds veranderen of andere vormen aannemen en opnieuw verschijnen. Zij wil de verbeeldingskracht en zintuiglijke ervaringen stimuleren en aanwakkeren , waarbij de sporen van het verleden nieuw leven wordt ingeblazen dat in haar geheugen verankerd blijft en zo haar persoonlijke geschiedenis verrijkt. Op deze wijze hoopt zij mensen te inspireren om een innerlijke reis te maken door echt te voelen en te ontdekken wat de schatkist van hun bestaan is.
