Carlos Guzman
Carlos is a Colombian artist who lives and works in Haarlem. Master in Visual Arts by ‘University of Sao Paulo’ Brazil, and artist in residence at the ‘Jan van Eyck Academie’ 2023-2024.
The expressive retaking of both urban and rural spaces, farming, ecology and history through its archives are some of the themes that run through his artistic practice. He has developed a multimedia work ranging video, photography, sound installations and printmaking. The exhibitions he has featured in include the Limburg Biënnale 2024, “New Names” of The Art Museum of Colombia’s Central Bank (2018), the 49° and 52° Cartagena International Film Festival, The Public Domain – Delfina Foundation (2014) and the 18th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil (2013).
Nowadays is making a research around "Annatto" natural dye ink for printmaking, a native spice from the Caribbean and Latin American traditional cuisine with deep connection with The Netherlands history and culture.
